Tips on protecting your privacy while on a forum.
Anonymity cannot always be guaranteed, but there are things you can do to protect your privacy. Registered members have access to all boards. No boards are open to the public (guests) to post but CAN BE VIEWED, at this time. Each member can take measures to protect their privacy and not be identified on this site. This is each individual's responsibility.
Member ID: Please do not use your real full name. Real names or nicknames that you use regularly will make a persons search for you more easy. If you don't want to be found or your privacy compromised, make it difficult for those who may be searching for information on you. Once you create an account, you can change your "display name" to anything and change it from time to time, if you choose.
Member Information: On your member profile, think about what information you want to share that would easily identify you. I suggest posting general information. You have the option to make your email public or private. If the email account you use here is your main email account used for multiple purposes, you may opt for it to be private.
Posting: Think about where you are posting. Is it private enough for what you want to say? We want everyone to feel comfortable sharing anything and not holding back, but including names, dates, or specific information that relates only to you, could be a way of identifying you. You can use initials or fake names, places to tell a story. I like to use my IBCC# when posting. In general only card collectors know my IBCC#.
These are general guidelines. The goal is to be anonymous in order to protect privacy and create a level of comfort, but sometimes anonymity can be compromised, if the right measures are not taken.
